To answer your question about battery access, 2 batteries are located under the port and starboard cabin seats. The other 2 are in a battery box located where the gas tank used to be. If you look at the pictures you can see that access is fair with cushions and wood covers removed however, hopefully I wont have to get to them too often. The boat is pretty balanced but sits a bit lower in the stern than she used to. I was hoping to fit all 4 batteries under the cabin seats but those big 8D's just wouldnt fit under the forward lockers. I moved the house bank from the aft starboard cabin seat locker to under the starboard (coffin) bed.
I hear you about keeping the speeds down to conserve battery power, I just wanted to see how the electric motor would handle. Apparently very well. :-)
