Hi Mike,
I checked out your pictures, nice set up. I've got a few questions.
1) It looks like you're using solid couplers, without any isolating flex coupling in the drive shaft. Without the coupler, how did you verify your drive to driveshaft alignment? Do you think that you might have additional corrosion issues since the propellor is grounded to the engine?
2) It looks like the electric drive pulley is directly connected to the transmission output flange. When you're in electric only mode, is the transmission in neutral? Do you think that there is any minor load (loss) spinning the transmission when the engine isn't running?
To try to quantify the answer to the last question, can you run the electric motor without bolting the unit to the transmission output flange, or is the transmission used as the axial and thrust bearing in this setup?
It sounds like you're geeting good results and the system is meeting or exceeding your expectations. You can't ask for much more than that out of a prototype..
Fair winds,

The initial sea trials performance of the system has been good. The diesel and electric both push the boat at hull speed. At 4.5 knots the diesel will run the electric in generator mode at 1.2kw and that is about 25amps at 48v. At 25amps the electric will push the boat at 4.5 knots. Seems just about right
