[Electric Boats] Re: 100kW hybrid installation

 

Hi Bill,

Very impressive sounding conversion. The most useful information that you could provide (from my perspective) is a little more info about the boat, LWL, beam, and displacement. The real good info would be the "watts to knots" performance at a number of different speeds while motoring in calm conditions. If you can tell us how much energy (amps and voltage) that you use at 4, 5, and 6kts, it can confirm some of the predictive performance calculations for other potential electric conversions.

It would be interesting to know how far your 36kWh battery bank can drive your boat without firing up the generator. Perhaps the energy management computer makes your boat more like the hybrid cars on the road today, where electric only is a small part of total operations and the ICE fires itself up to support regular powering. In any case, I like to hear about this type of conversion because it is so different from most of the conversions in the group.
