Re: [Electric Boats] Hello all

It is done all the time using a direct magnet motor. Once you are under sail and going faster than 5 kts you start putting juice back into the batteries. via the prop.

Hi every one, I am sitting here in landlocked Oklahoma working on solving that problem and being able to at least sail around here until I can get to a coastal area.
I've been lurking for several weeks now and I have a question for the group. has anyone ever seriously considered hydro generator as a source? I know next to nothing but it seems like since the water is always moving it should be an option. Any thoughts?
Reason I ask is I'm working on a catamaran for inland water sailing and Ive got this idea of putting a finned apparatus that is removable on the deck with a low RPM alternator attached. In theory it should work. Eventually this cat will have solar panels for running lights, trolling motor for back up etc.
Any thoughts?

Also I just uploaded a video to you tube about the hull progress,if any one is interested.
Smooth seas
