Re: [Electric Boats] Choice of Motors

The fairing reduces drag, the RC prop (10 x 6) is larger dia, thinner, more efficient blade shape.  Trolling motor props are primarily designed to shed weeds.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have always liked slipper launches and fan-tail launches and had considered a small, lightweight boat along these lines.

What is the logic behind fairing the motor shaft and using an aeroplane propeller: is this instead of using the standard propeller and, if so, why?

As to length of time between charges and speeds, the limit on the Thames is "a brisk walking pace" and I would be using it for day trips, so maybe four or fives hours use.

Regards,

James.

Are these likely to be powerful enough to drive the boat if linked to an small outboard leg? The other alternatives I have considered are the scooter motors that are readiliy available on e-bay
