[Electric Boats] Re: is there a maximum HP that is available in Electric Motor sizes for Outboards?

The biggest electric motor I'm familiar with for marine use is one of those pod style motors, it is rated at over 37,000 horsepower. This is for use singly or in groups for tugs, ice-breakers, cruise liners, etc. Admittedly it is more of an I/O unit.

If i can, i would like it to maintain its 30 knot top speed and handling. Has anyone done this kind of conversion? Is it reasonable for a DIY project? or should it be done by a shop.?
