Good question.
I would probably start out thinking about the hull shape and what type of motor-outboard or inboard would work best.
One of the reasons I went for the Henley 18 was that the design was adaptable to several different options including a through hull outboard which I adapted to a through hull submersible. The outboard electric drive had some nice feature including being able to hook up at anywhere between 24 to 60 Volts.
I would be interested to hear what other folks are seeing in terms of running time.
I have not tested mine under controlled conditions enough to know what it will really do but on steady running I think between 2-3 hours is all I am good for. I could add some more batteries but for now am staying at 4. Seems like it meets most of my needs without adding more weight for the times I do not need.
I have a Honda 2000 generator that I use in my camp trailer and have been thinking I may haul that along if we go on an extended trip for back up capability.
