I use a step down from my main propulsion bank plus I have a separate inverter bank plus a separate electric outboard battery. It is easy to switch two wires to any battery.
I use the main bank due to its AH and the higher loads I can experience from a heater start up. It also gives me weeks at anchor instead of a small house bank and a genny back up. I use solar to the propulsion bank too. Lots of ways I guess to achieve house load 100% redundancy. Not to mentiona separate portable handheld VHF and laptop/phone for charts plus good old paper;)
