Re: [Electric Boats] 1964 8 Metre Bobcat Catamaran Electric Drive

Mastervolt is a European company so the default is 230 single phase,  they sell a US 120 volt version.  Though I prefer Victron's inverters/chargers to Mastervolts  they are both top notch inverters/chargers.

Most shore panels top out at 50 amps, so 50a x 120v = 6000 watts.  So max charge current realistically is 6000w / 48v = 125 amp.  So any charger over 100 amps  would be hard to feed.

Most shore panels are 30a x 120v = 3600 watts. So 3600 watts / 48 volts = 75 amps. Which is why most boat chargers top out at 70 amps.  That is the highest charger rate you can feed with a 30 amp shore panel.

Should I be looking at this product for an inverter/charger:

Mass Combi 48/5000-70 (230V) | Mastervolt Marine

I'm confused about the 230v output though.  Does this mean I would further have to change that back to 120v somehow>=?
