Re: [Electric Boats] Re: 1964 8 Metre Bobcat Catamaran Electric Drive

There is no ground because there is no frame.  Most of if not all of the solar panels with over 19% efficiency use Solarpower cells,  but you only need to worry about positive grounding when using high voltage long strings.  For the amount of panels you could put on even the largest personal water craft, you can treat them just like normal panels.

In the case of all the bendable panels, they are not grounded at all.

Does that Grape solar panel have a positive ground? and how does that work exactly?

Looks just like the Renology panel, 100W Monocrystalline Bendable Solar Panel | Renogy Store, which I believe has a positive ground. Not sure exactly how to deal with that but would like to understand what difference it makes before I spend $2/watt for a couple of them for my dinhy. Only weights 3 pounds and looks like a good package but the positive ground thing has me concerned.

Can anyone explain how this will affect a charging system? or does it matter?
