[Electric Boats] B&S Etek AWG

 

Newbie here, I just did a search and can't find it, soooo...

I would like to know what size wire to run from the batteries to my newly acqired Briggs and Stratton 48v Etek outboard? Battery bank 4-5 foot run of the motor.

Inside the motor they use two smaller wires (for tight quarters I think) instead of one larger wire. Are there advantages other than flexibility? Can I use two on the outside connection? If so, what two AWG wires equal the single stranded one mentioned earlier?

On the B&S wiring diagrams they show an 80amp fuse in this exterior wiring connection. How do they get away with that if this is an over 100amp motor?
