I'm new to the idea of electric boat conversion but familiar with auto EV conversion. Aside from no regenerative breaking benefits why wouldn't one just convert, as per an auto?
I have an I/O (force L drive) that is essentially a 125 hp outboard, mounted atop and I/O lower drive unit. There is some battery storage capacity below deck in the keel and several other areas.
Couldn't the upper end outboard type gas motor just be replaced with a similar hp electric motor? and controller etc.
What issues or constraints are unique to boat vs. auto conversion?
thanks for any insights.
