[Electric Boats] Blade pitch question

Hi All,

The blades on a wind generator are only reverse of a power prop. My
question concerns the blades on a generator but is about theory so
should be able to receive an answer.

Background:

My blades are from survival unlimited a website that supplies items as,
you guessed it earth friendly. If I hook these up to a modified auto
alt. as described on the website. over revving is a problem in gusts.
The answer to this was to build a generator that could use all the power
the blades could provide. Yesterday in 50MPG gusts the generator did not
over speed and in this sustained wind speed between 25 to 35 the
generator topped off the batteries.

The Problem:

The output with no load speeds consistent with start-up wind speeds
voltage measured 48 volts. The slower blade speed is closer to stall
when hooked up to my 12v house system robbing my house of the output
that could be achieved.

The Question:

I believe changing the pitch to less aggressive pitch (the blades are
very flat to the wind at this time) will lower the start-up time. I also
believe that the change will fix the stall that I am experiencing due to
the pitch. If I mount the blades on a wedge to change the angle
presented to the wind will the geometry of the blade be lost? Assuming
of course that the blades geometry was that great to begin with, I would
hate to loose a good part of the blades lift while trying to adjust it
to my generator as built. Any input from those that understand prop
geo. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
