Scott:
Too add to Erics reply. I think you'll find you would be better of selling the Hurth transmission than try and use it in an EP conversion.

I'd like to add one more question to Doug (or anyone) regarding the reduction gearing. In Doug's pictures, he shows use of a belt driven reduction setup of pulleys (2:1 i believe). Would a Hurth gearbox like the one that came attached to my Universal 5411 in my Catalina 27 work just as well?

I have 100 AH 48v system and I can get about an hour ( at least on paper). Lake sailing is what I do and typically use < 20 ah to get out and back. The only reason I use that much is because we are in a cove and itI takes that long to get out to open water through a narrow channel.

I currently have a 12x7 twin blade folder, and based on playing with the excel sheets that are floating around, it seems that this is a pretty poor prop for EV. Is it as terribly inefficient as it seems or is it something that I could live with for a while and be ok?

As it has not yet given up the ghost, but is starting to suck my wallet out, I am planning to start learning about my options with the eventual intention of potentially building my EV conversion over the winter.
