Thank you for the confirmation.  One of my issues is that the most efficient system here is eight 6volt batteries.

It is a common misconception but multiple chargers in a string of batteries do not need to be isolated, as long as they are wired correctly.

 

Another option which might be considered is to use two 2-bank 12-volt chargers.  Minn Kota makes them in 10- and 15-amp varieties as do many others (Marine Pro, Dual Pro, etc.).  The 2-bank chargers are more commonly available than the 4-bank chargers as described earlier.  The primary advantage of the two 2-bank system is that if a charger fails you only need to replace one of the chargers, not the entire system (as in the case of failure with a 4-bank charger) and you can still use the one good charger to switch over to the other 2-bank as required in a pinch.  One of the worst (i.e., costly) situations you can find yourself in is to have a depleted battery with no way of getting a charge back in.

Ok, thanks for the input.  In the case of four 12v chargers I was not sure if you had to isolate the batteries.  Thanks also for the input on the Delta-Q's QuiQ chargers.  I will check them out.
