Back in 1980 or so we designed and planned building a series called the
Coral Clippers.  These were 65 ft, lee board, twin Screw sailing craft
with a great cabin aft and the amidships CARGO.

I had done some first mate time on 55 ft trawler like cargo taking stuff
from Ft. Lauderdale to Turks and Caicos. they used a small Perkins
single screw.

Ran into a Wood 85 ft Scandinavian Schooner that hauled cement and sand
from Turks to Haiti and brought fruit and stuff back.  All Sail with a
husband and wife crew.

Think Electric would be practical on the Clipper.

Unfortunately while setting up shop in Hernando Beach FL wife had a
cerebral hemerage and after 30+ days in ICU died and since self employed
and self insured the project died when all property was sold to cover
medical bills.

But the idea is not new and sail is a major power source for much
shipping around the world.
