Hey king, a couple questions if I might?
First is my finished conversion on a 50 hp Johnson two stroke OB. It makes a whine in gear, even with water cooling, stock water pump impeller removed, and good rubber " lord" mounts with 5 kv motor and shaft in good alignment. Motor turns dead quiet, lower unit turns equally quiet by drill motor or hand, and in fact just had the whole thing rebuilt by a local well known top mechanic. Still whines, forward and reverse, lust gets louder with speed. A Golden motor 48 volt 5 kv. set up, with the latest motherboard controls, and inside the hull panel set up. Any general things we can check on sounds ?? Outside of that noise it works great, but sure turns folks off of liking the sound level --- when we have to stop to talk.
Another thing is that I bought another 5kv. complete motor system, and was looking for a 2 : 1 or similar gearbox. Do you have any thoughts on who might have either straight or 90 degree boxes for boat use. I would like to get back to close to a regular outboard rpm, so I can spin a prop at 5000 if need be. Battery life not good of course at those draws, so maybe an ultra light short lap racing hull I have in mind would be good.
Thanks for any insight you may have on these two problems, Cal
