Re: [Electric Boats] Project

Having done a lot of FG work will get to that.  just removing the busted wood work and broken fittings

The rudder is gone so may have to build one.  It has like sail track that mounted the rudder not normal Pintles and gudgeons so will explore what was there

Oh yeah this has several coats of paint and was not put on well so will take down, epoxy seal and repaint

Here are my 2 cents:

1, Get some 1500 grit WET sandpaper and sand the hull, you will be shocked how easy it will clean ugly old sailboat hulls.
2, Get a NEW Minn Kota 55 thrust motor with the battery manager ( Endura Max ) it goes 5 times further that the old model.$275
3, Get a NAPA deep cycle new battery. $95
4, Make sure you use the sailboat rudder or you will have no control.
5, Enjoy the peace and quiet of Electric Boating.

I picked up a 1965 Rhodes 18 cuddy. Only 7 were built with the cuddy. over 700 open. was going to chop and change but decided to keep it pretty much as is but it will be no keel , about 200 lbs internal ballast and thinking doing a electric motor (outboard) and solar panels on an extended cabin top over the cockpit.

I am basically zero electric. so any ideas..  Can supply photos if can figure out how to load them
