I designed and built a 32 ft power trimaran a decade ago. was originally
a 40 HP OB, I put a 100 on it and was never happy with it.
Has a weird history I won't go into.
But with the engine needing ethanol free and the cost of gas, I think
electric might be an option
Easiest would be to hang 1 or 2 motors on the transoms or I have space
for an inboard cl shaft install.
That would take putting in a shaft and rudder.
Original design had a rear cabin trunk which was never done but could at
least do a hard roof over 8 ft of cockpit plus the roof on the pilot
house for solar panels probably 100 sq ft.
Also thinking a short mast for a steadying rig and down wind or broad
reach sails.
Boat weighs about 4500 with a 320 lb OB and 80 gal of fuel.
Engine right now has only about 250 hours and can probably sell for a
few bucks.
It would be used mainly for coastal cruising SW FL , a occasional
offshore fishing trip and fishing the flats and river.
Would be docked with power at home every day after use.
Ideas, suggestions welcome
