Re: [Electric Boats] Hybrid power

James , thank you !.
The Bellman is not strong enough , although it does look a good unit.
The Steyr in the smaller 144 looks the goods , but having a diesel spinning at 3600 or 3800 continuous , WOW !.
I'm going to make further enquiries though .
The last is a more diesel/electric concept , and I don't believe thats what I want.
When I want some real grunt , I want it at the turn of a key , like the Steyr hybrid would provide.
I do have a little 13 hp twin Lombardini in my current sailboat , and that is a little beauty , I'd have no hesitation in getting another , if it was appropriate.
Thanks again James.
Regards Rob J.

Mastervolt makes a hybrid add on for any motor:

Steyr motors make a all in one unit:

Or make your own serial hybrid with an eclectic drive and a diesel DC gen set:

I am contemplating selling my beautiful little 22 ft sailboat , because of arthritis , and getting a 36 ft ketch motor sailer.
She is powered by a Perkins 6 354.
It would be nice not having to start up the Perkins , to get out of harbour , and fishing , the electric part of a hybrid would do just fine.
But there is no way that I would NOT have a nice big diesel there , for those LONG trips in to the wind , or when the arthritis is really playing up , and I'm happy to hit the starter , and put up with the noise.
So , I'm looking for a true , reliable hybrid setup.
I've e-mailed Hybrid Marine , who are supposed to have systems running up to 150hp , but haven't heard back from them yet.
Is there anyone else selling a true hybrid , that can be relied upon to produce the goods , and back up their product ?.
