Thanks. I know that brushless motors require AC input, and in my mind it classifies them as AC motors. Of course, this means that you can't bypass the controller and connect the batteries directly to the motor as a fallback plan in case of a partially failed system, unlike DC motors.
So for a brushless (AC) system, the normal current overload protection (fuses or breakers) should suffice for safety purposes and a "panic button" disconnect is not really needed.
