Re: [Electric Boats] Battery Chargers

Victor,

It has nothing to do with the charger.   It depends on what the battery requires.   Each battery requires a certain amount of charge to keep the batteries from sulfating.

For example second Generation AGM batteries (Odyssey)   require more of a charge than regular AGM batteries.    Odyssey batteries are designed for rapid charge and recharge and will not perform well with an insufficient charger.

Odyssey Batteries perform well with a DC genset.    Lifeline batteries perform better with solar electric boats.

I have been looking for battery chargers, and see that for some of them there are noted a maximum Ah. For some others a max Ah is not noted.
Can anyone inform me why it is so?, and why is there a limit? Is it due to the design of the charger?
