Re: [electricboats] How long do CALB SE cells last?

What BMS and charge controller do u use?
Thx

What constitutes a charge cycle? Is it defined in terms of a specified decrease in the SOC, followed by an increase to bring it to the starting point, or is it defined in terms of charge 'reversals'?

My BMS seems to be quite different than the type you describe Kevin - all it does is provide over/under voltage protection for each cell as well as temperature monitoring. There is no separate change connection - only a single shared load/charging connection. It's really simple, and when using the motor and solar panels, I can monitor the 'net' power drawn from the battery, and if I choose, slow down until the 'net' draw is effectively 0.

All charge management is provided by my solar charge controllers, which have their own thresholds.

I can see where separate change management by the BMS could be an advantage when dealing with charging sources that are not carefully self-regulated.
