[Electric Boats] Re: motoring with ,quickcharge 48/V 25 amp,6V agms,and a honda 2000

Hi Kirk,

Good to hear that the Honda can handle the SCO4825 charger even though it operates so close to the generator's limit. I was worried about the Elcon PFC2000+ for the same reasons, that hasn't proved to be a problem in real world operation.

The PFC2000+ has a large heat sink with a built in fan. Here's a link to the manual with a picture of the charger on the first page. http://www.evolveelectrics.com/PDF/Elcon/PFC_2000+.pdf
In an reasonably large enclosed space with no direct fresh air, the charger has not exceeded "warm to the touch" after 4 hours of full bore. I can leave my hand on it indefinately. It also comes wired with an interlock function, the additional circuit is normally closed, this allows a BMS to trigger the shut off the charger if an over-voltage condition occurs. I know that's not really an issue for L/A batteries, but it's very helpful with Lithium cells.

In any case, the SCO4825 sounds like a good match to a Honda or Yamaha 2000W portable generator for extending one's range, if needed.

Thanks for posting your experience.

Fair winds,

This is a short load, but tripped the 15A breaker. This draw, and consequently the DC power out, can be adjusted downward, though I did not elect to do that.
