[Electric Boats] possible blown Sevcon MillipaK PMAC Controller?

I have read the Sevcon MillipaK PMAC Controller Manual cover to cover several times and still not sure I understand it fully yet unfortunately.

These are some details of the components:

Motor:  Mars PMAC ME0201013001
Controller:  Sevcon MilliPak 633T42602

This is my situation:

I had a Sevcon Calibrator hooked up to the MillipaK  and as I was looking at something else a friend picked up the Calibrator, inadvertently changing a several of the settings.

First the motor started clunking and not responding to the Accelerator Pot at this point we got the 5 Flashes Fault and Code 21 on the Calibrator.

After a couple of times trying to sort this out, things changed:  we not get 3 Flashes and Code 27 on the Calibrator.  I have since procured the Sevcon PCpak in hopes of solving - resetting the system.  Under Node 0 Status we have "Armature MOSFET Short Circuit detected at Power Up (27)"

Unfortunately I do not even know whether this is a problem with the Armature of the Motor or the MOSFET of the Controller.

I swapped out the Motor with no change in status.

With the Leads M1, M2 and M3 removed from the MillipaK the status reads System OK - with a steady green light.

After reading Gremlins or Angels? [long..] I'm not sure I want to blindly replace the Controller w/o other tests.

Any suggestions . . . thanks.
