all good points here John, thanks for posting. one other thing to consider here is current draw. packs seem to last longer when we do not over stress them. so one larger pack can dish out more current than two smaller packs used separately. i like buddy pairs over to sererate pack mainly for the reduced cost of the bms. affordability is important to me. how about the idea of one larger buddy paired pack and one very small reserve pack. we have a great deal on some 60 volt 45 ah lg chem packs. only 40 lbs . these can do 10c. $400
