RE: [Electric Boats] Usb to serial com port program

Hi Mike,

Any luck with the downloads? Been having some interesting readings on the + batteries connected to the PakTrakr, somewhat low. It seems to balance out after a while  but interesting.

Happy Holidays,

Steve

Hmmm, I do have some old laptops with Windows 98 on them sitting around the house. Plus they already have the com ports already built into them. Thanks for the idea I'll try it next time I'm back at the boat.

Good Morning Mike and Happy holidays,

Well I ran into the same problem, researched the heck out of it, didn’t understand half of what I read or was told. I ended up finding an old laptop with windows 98 that had the free Hyper Terminal on it and connected to the PK with a RS232 cable total cost of the yard sale antique laptop.. $25. It’s now the dedicated KP computer on board and I don’t have to mess with SD cards or converting data. Now I’m trying to get someone to develop the Android software to run it on the Zoom through a Bluetooth connection. Now that’s hard!

Keep me posted though,

I've been trying to get my Paktrakr hooked up to be able to download the battery/charging data to my PC over the winter. My first attempt failed because it seems not all USB to Com cables will  work with VISTA based software. I bought another cable but, by then my free trial of the Hyperlink program had expired. Does anyone know of a USB/COM software program that will work with VISTA based PC that I might be able to use to download the data. Free is a plus!
