Re: [Electric Boats] Re: first run

I take it as 100% discharge as when you power up it reads 200 amp AGMs..I figure on 4-5 hours run in real world usage. EY asked what batteries I was using when I ordered so he could program it.  Whenever it looks like I may go beyond that I will have a 2000 Honda or Yamaha by then..
For this season most of the time will be 10 minute runs to put up and take down the sails .I could ask EY if there is a percentage cut off but I will using the voltage under load as an indication of the state of the batteries as the display switches info as you go..

Hi Richard,

I would also be interested in hearing about your batteries. Do you know what parameters the EY display is using for your "time remaining" value? Does it assume a 100% discharge?

On my boat, the E-Xpert Pro meter has settings that define the discharge "floor" for the battery bank. With my 160Ah 50V Lithium battery pack, I chose an 80% discharge limit for the time remianing calculations. That means that the meter "sees" my pack as 128Ah, meaning that when if the gage ever gets to "empty" I'll have a reserve of about 30Ah left. I've heard that many people use 50-60% max discharge (Dragonfly uses 50%) for flooded batteries and AGM can be regularly run down to 65-70% discharged. I like the E-Xpert Pro because it can be configured for different pack sizes, chemistry types and personal preferences.

Fair winds,

The EY gauge display said I could do this for about 8 hours at the start. Fluctuated between 7.8and 7.5 on the way up..Current was with us and a slight headwind..
