They are a bit expensive to buy... so I made my own.
I bought:
4 - 30ah 3.2v LiFePO4 cells ($130) in series 13.2V
1 - BMS (battery management system) ($32)
1 - LED Fuel meter ($35)
1 - U1 Battery Box ($14)
2 - Stainless 1/4 bolts with wing nuts ($4)
3 ft marine wire 8 gage ($7)
Total cost under $250; I've been using it since Oct 2014 on my kayak with a minn-kota trolling motor (30 amp).  It's located in Sarasota at Marina Jack's. Works very well - the minn kota runs "strong" due to the higher voltage. I recommend it, easy to make, smaller and lighter than Lead Acid. Photo attached

Has anyone had experience with these lithium batteries: http://www.lithiumion-batteries.com?
