[Electric Boats] Re: Solar Bimini

Hi Rumi,
Thank you for the complement.
The panels are not bolted together. Everything is kept in place horizontally with some ~1.5 inch spacers at the ends and ~0.5 inch spacers between the panels on the fore and aft tubes. There's virtually no room for the panels to move side to side on the transverse tubes.
I took the pics shortly after getting everything erected. It was getting late, rain was coming, I was tired and I just wanted to get a couple of pics before everything collapsed.  :-)
I've since tidied things up a bit and will try to get some newer pics posted this weekend.
As for your split backstay, the guy I'm getting my electric drive system from (Electroprop) move the split backstay of his Catalina 30 forward and chopped of a foot of his boom to better accommodate a solar array atop a single (very) thick pole. He adjusts the angle with a linear actuator controlled by a joystick and rotates the pole by hand, as needed. That's a bit too out there for me - at this time.
As for tilting back the array 45 degrees, that needs some refinement and thought. It was difficult getting the array back to horizontal while at the dock.
