The Electric Yacht H-Hybrid 8.0 does that. Best with a transmission that allow the propeller to spin without damaging the transmission. You must match the power curve of the diesel to provide for the generation mode of the electric motor when in generator mode. The coupling of the electric and diesel to the shaft is significant effort of engineering and machining.
I ran the H-Hybrid 8.0 for three years in my Columbia 9.6. Recommend it only for boats from 35 to 40 ft long as a way to go electric and where there is limited room for a genset to provide extended range.
