Curiously, our cottage in Emerald Isle, NC was only 30 miles from the eye landfall on Cape Lookout (we were thankfully on the west side), but appears to have suffered less damage than most of my siblings in upstate New York, who suffered flooded basements and big trees down on homes, and many days without power. I'm headed down for 'unboarding' and cleanup tonight, so will see if my nephew's damage assessment is accurate. Our boats were all moved inland, so no problems there. Folks on the backside on Bogue Sound had just about finished replacing all their docks from the big blow in 2005 (Ophelia IIRC), and now will be starting all over again, as I understand the soundside got hit hard again.
Then to get back to work on my electric boat build...
