It is important to remember that Alibaba is usually manufacturer to distributor. it's very different from Amazon. The assumption is that you are a wholesaler, distributor, or direct retailer buying in bulk. You have to research the companies. I would only buy from manufacturers rather than other wholesale distributors if it can be avoided. The one exception to that I'll make is Growwatt inverters because the manufacturer does not sell its home-scale gear directly to smaller firms, but they do have partnerships with all the large solar companies in China.
As I've admitted, this is a relatively new road for me, but being about a year and a few shipments in I feel that I have a system and have my bearings. I am only distributing powerwall style batteries and matched inverters right now, but have been doing sea trials with waterproof lifepo4 packs and electric outboards, a couple of electric inboards, so far going well and I hope to offer those in the Fall after negotiating a few small changes and waiting for shipping.
The single biggest drawback right now is the huge backlog in trans-pacific shipping. My current container is two months late, mostly due to the Suez Canal nonsense earlier this year and it's spill-on effects.
Anyway, I've been reluctant to share commercial information here (is there a policy? especially because I'm *still* waiting on that next container - all
my current inventory is sold)! but others have done so and so if you want to buy from someone who is building the manufacturing relationships, navigating the complexity, and then guaranteeing the product domestically, talk to Jeff. Oh wait. Me. I meant me. ;-) or both. I really like what Jeff is doing and it's pretty exciting.
No established name/reputation yet, just me learning and hoping that I can get more people to install home energy storage (or electric boats).
