The memory effect is reliant upon repeated discharge to, and recharge, from a specific level of charge.
I am not hearing competitor or hybrid owners complaining about this?

If it starts forgetting some of its charge, then it has memory... ;-)

Only one thought to this. When NiCad batteries developed a memory it was on a very reliable charging pattern. The only time a memory could be proven was in satellite use. The question then is when has the lithium cobalt shown signs of a memory, and should anyone that uses them in vehicles worry about it?

In fact there have been experiments suggesting lithium cobalt has this too – but it also means the cell is very recyclable because of the good chemistry which can be recovered. And still it isn't noticeable in relation to the issues with PB and the fact that new they have a 50% of rated capacity is there to be used with much accelerated aging rates.
I have a feeling whatever anyone buys now – they will replace them with something totally different in a decade or more.
