Pretty much ALL electricity is scary. 1/10 amp through your body can very definitely kill you. It is all about how much current goes through your body, not necessarily the voltage of the circuit that you come in contact with, or whether it is AC or DC. The simple approach is to never allow yourself to take a shock, whether it is low voltage DC, AC, whatever, if it is capable of driving more than a very few ma through your body. At "lethal" voltages,in marine use, certain extra engineering details such as GFCI breakers are a requirement. A properly designed system reduces the chance that you will die from doing something really stoopid, but not eliminate it. Safe working and operating practices are important no matter what sort of electrical supply you use for your motor.
