[Electric Boats] Re: Prepping for paint, mounting, and Battery Managemt System

You might want an ammeter and tachometer and maybe a voltmeter visible from the cockpit. Not really essential I guess, but I will soon be installing them outside. Currently I just have improvised, semi functional instrumentation. Tach needs replacing and ammeter is just alligator clipped across a shunt and difficult to see from topside. There are a bunch of old gauges for anemometer and stuff installed in the cockpit on the aft cabin bulkhead and I will be removing them, cutting out and installing an instrument panel, and covering with plexiglass. I am using ordinary panel mount meters/gauges.

It is nice to know your shaft RPM and your current draw. If nothing else, so you can correlate them to speed and compare to other boats, and get an idea of how well your system is performing.

A State Of Charge meter is a good thing to have but you can sort of go by your voltage, after going a couple of hours without either charging or discharging your batteries.
