I am also considering a Pak Trakr as a backup to the XBM battery monitor that is in the cockpit. But, I'm a belt and suspenders kind of sailor. I spend a lot of time cruising and try to have backups or work arounds for most of the systems on board. I like the idea of the Pak Trakr because you are supposed to be able to see the voltage of each battery in the bank. Yes, I would mount it in the cabin for the very reason you did. My question is how do you (or anyone else) like the Pak Trakr?

I mounted a PackTrakr in the companionway at the top of the stair (Ericson 27). I would like to have it at the helm but the PackTrakr is not sealed. I tend to check battery charging regularly and for that it's nice having the monitor down below.
