Denny: Many thanks for your thoughtful, helpful message. The sloop is
a Teak Lady, built Hong Kong 1958 of that material, 17' x 6' x 3' draft,
full keel. Owners state that this must be the weight, although I have
not seen an official weight. My own guess was 2000 lbs. Anyway, there
is space for a motor, shaft hole is plugged and rudder aperture
enclosed. Bilge is less than 12" amidships, batteries might go under
bunks or around motor. I am a novice at electrics but Riverbend Marine
in Newport, OR has a very good mechanic and other expertise. best
wishes, jim
