[Electric Boats] Electric Boats Miniature Hydro Electric plant

To all dreamers,

Well, I knew we would get back on this subject sooner or later...   Mono hulls are limited in speed by the length of the waterline, unless you have a 50+ ft waterline you'll never get the 10+ knots that most feel a necessary speed for any amount of power generation.   At least with that waterline length you probably would have a 20/24 inch prop Medium pitch or adjustable which would help.

I think Keith is exactly correct in that the Regen controllers used in the golf carts and Electric cars will not work efficiently on boats.   If (we) electric sailboats had our wheels on the ground....chuckle.... things would probably work much better, but we don't...  efficiency in combination, that means to, me at least, prop size, pitch and efficient control of the
fluid moving through or around that prop will bring the best result as far as power/ torque to turn the shaft.

I have been collecting and also making some special props to see how close I can get to an optimum push/pull combination.    Hopefully this summer I can spend a couple of weeks on the Gulf and try everything out at once,   The sailing that I've done on a Mono hull have been at the 3 to 5 knot speed, so that's my goal.   I'll keep pluggin away as long as the beer and rum hold out... got to have a little fun too....   chuckle..
