Re: [electricboats] New prop 10KW motor

I have 18"x14" 3-blade props on Sunshine - 12m electric cat. I have 10kW MotEnergy 48v PMAC motors turning 2,400 RPM max. 3:1 reduction pulley/belt - prop turns up to 800 RPM. Max speed is 6.3 knots.

I chose these props & reduction after looking at my existing data from previous power trains. I feel my setup is just about as efficient as one could get. I run at 3.5 kts using 35A/motor - 70A total.

Hi, Michael

If you clean the prop, there may be a stamp of the diameter and the pitch.

Hello all,

I'm installing the 10KW Thunderstruck in my Catalina 30 and need to replace my damaged 2 blade prop.
Any recommendations on the proper diameter prop to maximize my new electric motor?
TS has told me to take 75% of the prop diameter to determine the pitch, but still working on the optimal diameter.
Thx!
