When running a charter tour boat we were in Manatee zones and I fitted an jet drive and was never even slightly happy.,After a few months talked the dealer to take back and give me a normal prop. Same power but performance doubled. I fitted a ss cage around it for Manatee protection

Now, if you have some specific reason to consider a jet drive, efficiency might not be the deciding factor, but trying to supplement conventional external propeller propulsion with a "sorta" waterjet drive seems like a waste of watts for no purpose.
