Dan, really hoping to hear about your project.  That sounds just like what I am gunning for.

Meanwhile, I'm thinking about something else......

My hull has 2 underwater exhaust ports, outboard of the running gear, near the transom.  They look like the picture.  The exhaust is fed from a water lift muffler, through a 5" round tube down to the hull.  Somehow that is turned into an oval, and then the opening of the exhaust port, I'm guessing is around 2 or 3 inches.

I am thinking about what technology I could use along with the electric main drives for the props to create an "afterburner" effect using these ports.  I can source seawater from the 2 unused raw water inlets (1.5" each), and somehow pump that out of these exhaust ports (even if they are just acting as a thru hull to get an outlet hose into the port).  I'll have a generator on board, and would only use these when not maneuvering, and shooting a relative straight line to my destination.  electric pumps? oil driven pumps with a takeoff from the generator? Some mechanism to adjust the flow?

Just thinking out loud about whether this would extend my range, or speed, thereby requiring less kw to obtain hull speed.

I scare me.
