[Electric Boats] Re: 3D printed propellers

Nice. This could be a very important and useful development in e-boat technology.

I thought about making a 3D printed modular prop, with blades that lock into dovetails in the hub, so diameter and pitch could be cheaply and easily changed for experimentation, then the plastic prop could become a model for an actual cast bronze one. And by going modular, props of up to 18" diameter could be made on most hobbyist quality printers. But I ended up tossing the printer. No room. It either took up the entire galley or else the shower stall on my boat, and I decided I wanted to be able to cook and take showers so the printer had to go. I did make a few useful things with it first, though. If I ever get a big enough boat maybe I will have a dedicated 3D printing space.
