There is a much better and promising product on the marked from Brunton.

I bought one and it is extremely flexible. At a length of 10cm it can be bent in 90 degrees in each direction without damage. I don't know about the wiring inside, it is not possible to peel off the layers as it is very solid. Mine is the 26watt one, it has 8 cells. Unfortunately it has the cells "printed" on one side only. Don't know if it is possible to have cells on both sides, hence it would be the ultimate sail generating 2kw on on a 25m2 sail one side only. As it also generates power from daylight I think the other side, not facing the sun will generate a other 25%. that would make 2.5kw on a sunny hour.

I am looking into developing a test sail and will write a Brunton for traditional information. If it is possible to have cells on both sides I would be very interested in develop and producing.

Something tells me this could be great as one of the outer layers in a new class of cruising laminate sails. Only about 30W per sq metre but my boat has around 50m^2 of sail area.
So a 1500W array that takes up no additional space and no performance penalty... Of course, the durability of the film in such an application remains to be seen. I doubt it would last 5 years, let alone 10 or 20... Or the 33 years my bagged out sails have on them. If the film cost can come down to the $1/W range then it would definitely become a popular option in many sail lofts...
