Re: [Electric Boats] Re: Battery Monitor

Any chance anyone has any experience with this device?

http://www.maretron.com/products/dcm100.php

They're about $400 retail. Its a NMEA battery monitor. Its supposed to do all the things of other monitors but it sends all the data as NMEA sentences which can be displayed by just about any chart plotter, instrument display or other compatible device. Seems like if there is already a NMEA plotter or instrument on-board it would be nice to have all the battery bank information in the same place.

I reading about this project and this is what they're using for battery monitoring.

It was exposed to the Weather the first season. By the start of the second season the LCD display was cooked. I replaced the display and moved the unit to the cockpit locker where I can still see it from the helm if I lift the hatch. Paktrakr has worked fine and is in the main cabin. I did add an external fuse holder to make changing it or shuting down the unit easier when I need to.

Is your meters expose to the weather or down below? Any issues with the PakTrakr?

TBS had much better customer service. I would buy a TBS unit if you can (I don't think they are sold in the states) because they just have much better customer service for the product and they make them in the first place.
