Not only am I interested in this thread, it's one the few over the years that I have collected ALL replies and saved them in a folder on my computer for future references. Participants have been speaking in terms that are easy to understand and relate to. I am about to experiment with a motor from a 24 volt scooter ( the 3 and 4 wheel type that disabled people use) and attaching it to a volvo penta saildrive unit directly. I am about to post a new topic because I have some specific questions about the configuration,,but I don't want to confuse things in this post. However I have learned valuable information regarding controllers here, so if anyone has anything further to add, speaking for myself, I'm allllllllll ears. Btw thanks to everyone for adding to my knowledge base on this issue.
