[Electric Boats] Re: Houseboat

 

I don't see why you can't use the v-drives either. Depending on the motor, you might have to re-prop, change the gear ratio, or both.

I think available ratios are: 1.21, 1.51, 1.99, 2.49:1, if you have the Velvet Drive units. These are heavy (200 lbs), expensive and desirable gearboxes. You might want to consider selling the v-drives to help pay for the conversion and remove some weight to make room for more batteries. You will need to add some sort of shaft bearing, then connect the motors to the shaft, or install a cogged belt/pulley for speed reduction.
