My experience with Optimas: several years ago when the Group 31s came to the market I bought two for my house bank through an Internet outlet, which were connected to a 1-2-both-Off switch and a two-bank West Marine battery charger (I think it is a re-labeled Xantrex). For the first season I only used Battery 1, as it had enough capacity to satisfy our needs (no electric refrigeration at the time). Beginning the second season I decided to start using mainly battery 2, but it would not last more than 10 minutes… Battery 1 was Ok. By then the Internet company was gone, and Optima did not even reply to my emails (still under warranty). Battery 1 is still in service and strong. Given this “50% track record” and Optima’s “silence”, Optimas were not an option for my project. I’ve installed West Marine AGMs and East Penn has been responsive providing technical specs (as the system is still quite new I do not have enough data to provide any opinion about them yet).

I was currious in what others have found or think when comparing the 2. I do know that Optima does not offer anything larger then Group 31 and that the amp hours for their group 31s are rated lower then Lifeline's. Makes me wounder why Torqeedo aligned themselves with Optima.
