with peak currents from 4 to 8 knots, forcing deception pass in a displacement sailboat is a endeavor in slow torture. I would recommend that you consider your current actions and consider how they could or should change when in a differently-powered boat. e.g. right now you can just kinda go and have enough range to do whatever suits ya… but that will not be the case under electric power, so a paradigm shift in thinking and planning might be enough to make it more effective than anticipated..

Hi Group,still researching about battery replacement. I've pretty much decided to go the LiFePO4 route. One question I do have though. I need at least a bank capacity of 400 Ah at 48 volts. I have the choice of 100 Ah cells in a 16S4P configuration, or 200 Ah cells in a 16S2P configuration. What are the pros/cons of these 2 arrangements?Thanks,Chris

House to be served by DC to DC converter for 12V and inverter for 120V AC. Power use on board includes lights, communication, depth/speed equipment, phone chargers, and occasional microwave use.
Type of use:
Exploring the San Juan Islands and the Salish Sea (Puget Sound to B.C.). Occasional vacations up to 1 week.
This should provide about 7.7kWh useable storage assuming 80% depth of discharge. If I find out I need more, there is space to double the batteries.
