Re: [Electric Boats] Pods for sailboat conversion to electric.

The motor is more accurately a saildrive rather than a pod.  I would like to know the propeller you are using on the drive as we are seeing the traditional saildrive propeller (fixed or folding) very adequate for electric propulsion.  They do not look like the "outboard" props shown.  They are also a bit of a pain as the anodes are between the propeller and the saildrive and require the removal of the propeller to be swapped out.

The POD is a system in which the electric motor is mounted in the water.  Torqeedo has such a product.

On cruise ships and other large vessels the pods are massive and the engineers work on them when they are running mounted below the ship.  More recently they have added steerage to the pod and removed the rudder form the ship.  The give you an idea of the reliability of these big electric drive systems.
